I was surprised of how easy was to make the configuration of the radio, they really need to improve the quality of the remote control......

This radio Is more Then I expected!! It Works Inside Outside And I love Getting The Stations without Static Or Fade Out..Ive Even Dropped It a few times And It still Works.It's A Great value for The $........

I just got this a couple of days ago. I was able to set it up to connect to my home wireless network, no problem. Set it up with a few of my favorite stations, and the sound is very, very good.

You can even set an account at [...], set up your favorite radio stations there, and then browse through them on this radio (as opposed to searching using the radio then saving as presets).

As a clock radio by the bedside, however, it may not be best for everyone. None of these are major issues, but you should know about these things.

Using the remote at your bedside is not all that practical. But it's easier to use most of the functions using the remote than using the controls on the radio itself.

The clock only displays 24-hr format, not 12 hr am/pm format (I called and this was verified by the company).

The backlight is pretty darn bright, even at its lowest setting.

Setting the alarm and sleep time is kind of a pain, need to go through a couple of levels of menus.

Overall I did give it 4 stars, it has great sound, and it's a nice looking unit, too.......

The unit does what they say... but you will appreciate just how easy it is to use, and how good it sounds, well within your first hour of ownership!......

Works a treat - great fun being able to listen to worldwide feeds on a "normal" radio interface to music/news without using the pc/laptop.
somehow drops link to wireless router - but so does my laptop so nothing new there... Sounds good, lacks any sound equalising functions...

This is the best clock radio available. You can get a better radio with a Boston Acoustics Horizon Solo, but the light cannot be dimmed enough at night. This Sangean has the next best radio, best dimming and other features. An improvement would be a battery back-up. ......

I love this thing. It's neat looking, easy to use and has lots of great features. Best of all, it has a humane wakeup system, which means it starts out very low and gradually increases the volume. The analog face is easy to read at night and the light level adjusts itself. The digital clock sets itself automatically. The digital radio tuner means it is accurate to the station instead of all this fiddling around with knobs like on so many clock radios. Reception is excellent. So far, I'm just thrilled with it.......

This is a simple to use but yet sophisticated clock radio. I like the face-lighting options, atomic accuracy, analog with digital display. The alarm is unique as well. My wife has yet to punch me to shut it off like my other instantly obnoxious clock.

First let me say that this clock does get great radio reception. I have had multiple clocks in the same location that could not pick up my favorite AM stations and this one does.

That said, it is VERY disappointing that the DST feature cannot be permanently disabled. Living in Arizona we do not utilize Daylight Saving Time as does most of the country. Following the instructions to turn off the DST feature does little due to the fact that when the clock obtains its next update on time the DST time is reset.

After contacting Sangean they suggest switching the time zone as a "solution" to the problem. Unfortunately that means that although we do not use DST in Arizona, we are forced to remember to switch our clocks or be an hour early or late to events a couple times a year. This may not seem like a big deal, but when one is spending upwards of $100 for a clock, one would think that something as simple as having the ability to turn off the DST feature completely would be possible.

The Humane Waking System is an interesting feature although the sound level could increase a bit more gradually. The display is good and is easy to read. Overall a decent clock with at least one MAJOR drawback for anyone in an area that does not follow Daylight Saving Time. Hopefully this flaw will be fixed in future models of this clock. If the problem is addressed, it will rate a "5" in my book.......

I purchased this based on the other positive reviews, so I won't reiterate everything that's already been said. Here are my favorite features:
1. The atomic clock -- now I actually do know that the time is correct
2.The backlight can be adjusted with a dial to create precisely as much light as you need to read the clock or be turned off completely.
3. There are four different alarm settings, two with beeping and two with radio alarms. I use the radio alarms and hubby uses the beeping (now I can sleep through his since the sound is different than mine). I set one for my weekday wakeup time and one for my weekends. I never have to reset it.
4. You can choose the days of the week for each alarm setting
5. The alarm buttons are on the FRONT of the unit -- my cats cannot turn the alarms on or off during the night. The power button is also on the front.
6. All of the buttons on the top function as "snooze" buttons when the alarm rings -- so you can just reach out and slam the top of the unit without having to locate that one button...
7. The unit has a special nap function. You can set it for anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours. I take many naps and often set an alarm to make sure I am awake at a specific time. Now, I don't need reset my morning alarm for midday and then remember to reset it again afterwards. If you like to nap -- this is an extremely useful feature.

Cons:
1. The instruction manual is a little lacking.
2. When first setting the clock, it may take about 24 hours for it to connect with the Atomic clock. This is frustrating if you are not sure whether the unit works or not (since the operating manual doesn't mention this at all).
3. Would be great if you could hook two units up (one on each side of the bed) to create stereo sound.......

The clock is supposed to connect to the Atomic clock in Colorado so it always has the correct time. This feature just did not work. The manual provides instructions to set the clock manually if the automatic time feature does not work, but I just returned it. I don't know why the automatic time feature did not work for me or how often this occurs. However, the manual was not helpful and contained no troubleshooting tips.......

I bought this for my 75 year old mother and she said the light from the display lit up her room and she could not fall asleep. There is no way to dim this light. I read reviews before I purchashed this radio that also complained about the light and I should have listened. This radio was returned.......

Overall satisfied with this alarm clock. Only wish it had a backup battery in case the power goes out! Also, the reception for the atomic clock is not too hot. ......

Works as it should, the only issue is it is way more complicated than it should be.. After all it as just a clock radio... After you figure out how it works it does just what it is supposed to....Keep accurate time, and wake you up in the morning....

All in all recommended for the price it is a good and reasonably attractive clock radio.......

The clock is great Ive set the alarm once and never have to deal with it again. Also loved it when the time changed and i didnt have to do anything because it self adjusted. The only downside is that it took a long time get the right time of day when i first got it, like 2 hrs.......

great concept- 100's of free internet radio stations now to wake up to- no more glaring, tacky, screaming ads or pop-junk music to start my day! Can't believe no one thought of this sooner! Sound is quite decent too- almost good, especially compared to what you typically get for an am/fm radio alarm clock. Only a couple of big criticisms. Screen is kind of old-fashioned etch-a-sketch style display- wish it was colored led #'s etc.... & the screen is just WAY too bright to sleep with and not adjustable to a low enough brightness level-(really, it's like a flashlight! at night) I need to completely cover it up to sleep, but then I cannot glance at the time when I wake up in the middle of the night- disconcerting. Also, the alarm settings are cumbersome to access . All that said, I'd definitely still buy this again-there's nothing else out there I've seen even close to this functionality for the price. Small footprint is nice, attractive overall design. Hopefully they will listen to these issues & design a better follow-up model. I'll definitely upgrade.......

I purchased this radio for my husband's birthday after he saw the ad in Smithsonian Magazine. He loves it and I couldn't have been more pleased. Initially we had a little problem with connectivity. I contacted Aluratek's customer service. They were very friendly and helpful. Turned out if was an issue with our wireless network configuration.

The CNET review commented on sound quality being a draw back for this item. But we have found the sound quality to be quite adequate and pleasant......afterall it's a $100 clock radio; if you want a Bose Wave Radio, you have to pay for a Bose Wave Radio!

We love the option to connect this to our component system and plug in a MP3 player. You can also select FM stations if you pefer.

If you're looking for a fun internet radio that lets you access global music and news radio, then you found it.......

I bought this item based on a review written in the December issue of MacWorld magazine.

The immediate problem was with the instructions (which were no doubt written by French engineers) Not a good sign. After several attempts to configure the initial set up, the clock times would vary day-to-day, from 1913 to 2l07,!?!

The sound quality was marginal, at best. On the plus side, the FM reception was better than expected.

Maybe I got a defective one. That said, this product did not live up to my expectations; plus, the set-up was a PITA. ......

This Internet radio have all the features I need. It is multimediaplayer in one plus audio outputs and inputs. Everything works but connectivity with PC I have not tryed yet. Internet radio is in use every day and it works fine as a wired client (connected to internet connection by RJ45 network cable).
I woukld give it 5 stars with no problem but I must be cautios because this unit is produced in China. Hope it works fine in coming years.

This radio only supports MP3 and WMA formats, which means you can't listen to some major stations like the BBC which streams in AAC, or anything that streams RealAudio.

Other drawbacks include a fairly cumbersome menu system, and only one speaker which means you'll be listening in mono unless you connect it to a stereo system using an RCA cable.

It does a reasonably good job playing the stations it does receive, and the built in speaker doesn't sound bad except as I mentioned, it's mono.

Bottom line, I love the idea of a standalone Internet radio, but I wouldn't buy this one again.......

Very good functional item. I like the easy to use and very nicely displayed dual alarm funtion. I wake up to a CD on alarm 1 and by the time I am out of the shower I am getting the local traffic and news on alarm 2. Some reviews complaned about the sound output! I've now had this and been using it for about a year. It works perfectly but has two annoying design issues that have been slowly grinding on me enough that I'm now looking for a replacement. The display has 3 preset light levels and the lowest makes my dark bedroom glow at night and the button to turn off the alarm is the second small button from the top on the right of the clock (you can see it if you look closely at the picture). The light may not bother some people but I like a dark bedroom and from experience I can tell you it is not easy to find the alarm off button if you've had a late night. If these two items don't bother you, I'd recommend buying this as everything else works as advertised. ......

Everyone seems to love Sony well i think they suck. speaker is very tiny and tinny sounding pop out drawer is flimsy and its overpriced for the quality it is Same Old Sony CRAP......

I bought this last week at Best Buy ($64.95 + Fl Tax). Which was about the same price I'd have paid through Amazon. I read complaints regarding the other Sony iPhone clock (looks the same but also has a CD player)saying the display was way too bright despite 2 or 3 brightness settings. This clock's lowest setting is perfect for me, dim enough to not be disturbing, but certainly bright enough to see at night. The numbers are also nice and large so there's no problem seeing them without my glasses.
The iPhone functionality is good. I can dock my iPhone without removing the rubber case. The alarm can be a buzzer, radio or iPhone. The buzzer sound is not real loud. Loud enough for me, but some might sleep through it. Its a progressive interval beep, which starts off slow, and then gets faster (ie more annoying).
The sound is so-so. Not real important for me, but may be for some people. It is a tiny speaker after all.There is a back-up battery so power outages dont mess up the time/alarm settings. The remote might be useful for some who use it to listen to music with (just another useless remote in my drawer for me). The set-up is fairly straight forward (I'm not big on actually reading instructions). Its a bit tough getting to the alarm shut-off until you get used to it. Its the front button right at the 3O-clock position.

Over all I'm giving it 4 stars. I think its a bit pricey, but not pricey enough to buy another one for my wife. It certainly declutters the night stand a bit.
Oh yea, and a bounus if you have any of the apps like Sirius/AM or pocket tunes, you can get all your favorite sat radio stations on your alarm clock. I dont think you can program it to launch on wake-up, but other than than it adds a bit of flexibilty to your sat radio listening.......

This is a great clock! It charges my iPhone with no problems and despite the small single speaker, has a surprisingly good sound. Not audiophile quality, but certainly not tinny. Pleasant listening. Radio works great too.

I am VERY nearsighted, but the display is large enough for me to see on my nightstand. It's been difficult to find a clock with a large display that also was not too bright. The display supports three different brightness levels, so it's not too bright at night.

My only concern is with the sliding docking tray. Feels a bit flimsy, but I suspect that won't be a problem. Most people really won't slide it in and out, so I wish they'd designed it with a fixed docking station.

Despite having a plastic DLO cover on my iPhone, there is no problem docking the phone. I am not using any of the docking adapters that came with the clock. Works fine without them.

Controls are easy to operate and setting up alarm functions is quite simple. Users can set two separate alarms (A & B) and customize for weekdays. weekends, or 7 days a week. The controls for the A & B alarms are located on opposite sides of the clock on the sides and I like that they are totally separated to reduce accidents.

There are two models made by Sony. This one does NOT have a CD player. I didn't want one. If you DO want the CD player, look at Sony ICFCD3iP CD Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (Silver)

I wanted to add a quick note about this clock radio because most of the other reviews for clock radios don't address the issue that was the most important to me- the strength of the antenna. I was looking for an alarm clock that would get better reception in our bedroom than the one we presently own. This clock is able to pick-up stations that are either too fuzzy to hear or don't even come in on our current clock.

I also like that the iPod dock slides out, so that I don't have a large piece of machinery sitting on my bedside table! I am very pleased with this clock radio and my husband is going to be thrilled on Father's Day!......

I needed a CD player/ipod player/radio/clock combo so I could listen to yoga and relaxation music in a room adjacent to our bedroom. This item exceeded my expectations! Not only did it do all it claimed, I also could plug in my old mini-disc player through its audio in! Since it's not next to my bed, the light it emits is a perfect nightlight glow so I can see my way in the dark. I actually took it with me in the camper and it was absolutely perfect! It's so rare for me to find something that I am totally pleased with these days. There's so much junk out there...

GET IT! YOU'LL LOVE IT!......
